The Beach Garden
From a patch of unloved ground between Green Lane and the seafront, volunteers created, and continue to care for, a garden planted with a wide variety of sea-salt resistant flora. Colouful benches offer space to sit and chat, or sit and think, sheltered from the wind.
The Shoal
The seafront, though a draw in itself, used to fade out at the foot of Seaford Head with “just” a fishing jetty. Our plan was to establish a focus. Engaging local designers Gabby Tofts and sculptor Christian Funnell an attractive shaped wave-form seat was fashioned. Not only does it provide a relaxing viewpoint for watching the Bay and the nearby cliffs, but commemorative plaques in the shape of fish are fixed to it to remember people and organisations – or just those seaside holidays that meant so much.
