Town Environment

The Blue Plaque scheme

Many notable people are associated with Seaford, and in a number of ways. With local residents and the Council we decided that we should mark the buildings they occupied, and their achievements. The image shows just four of those we’ve placed so far.

Trees and Tree Wardens

The volunteer group Trees for Seaford have planted and maintain over 1500 new and replacement trees throughout the town. These are found in grass verges, school playing fields and in open spaces.

Tree TLC days are organized to help maintain these trees. Volunteers are sought on social media an by other means and more always welcome.

The Gateway Project

The Partnership has developed a project to allow better access to the promenade during the winter for the disabled and families with wheel chairs.

Another, major, part of the aims is to include pavement and other signage to show a clear route from the seafront to the Town Centre.  Other signs on the promenade will advertise the types of businesses to be found in the town.

*** The Gateway opened on Saturday 17 July 2021. ***

Seaford Neighbourhood Plan

The Plan was developed by many volunteers, including three Community Partnership Directors, (one was Chairman of the Steering Group). In summary, the Plan identifies ten brown field sites  for development  of 185 homes in the town by 2030.   In addition, nine Local Green Spaces were designated to give additional protection  against development.

The Plan includes a number of “Community Aspirations” to be developed into detailed proposals. These include enhancing the town centre, for example,  possible mixed pedestrian/vehicle use of some  roads, an enhanced shop front scheme, different road surfaces, etc.

More on the plan is on the Seaford Town Council website
